Todd Hido
House Hunting and Ohio Series
January 20-February 26, 2000

This is Hido's first solo show in New York, his work was first exhibited at our gallery as part of the 1998 summer group show entitled Neighborhood Watch. Those haunting twilight scenes of suburban homes and streets were part of a series entitled House Hunting which combined views of homes from the exterior with interiors of homes for sale. Unlike the cool observations of a Robert Adams or William Eggleston, these images are filled with a sense of romance, longing and danger. The earlier work will be combined with more recent work from the Ohio series in this selection of twelve Ektacolor prints. Hido's work is included in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Berkeley Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Oakland Museum of California.
