CURRENT NEWS ON GALLERY ARTISTS Chien-Chi Chang, a recent addition to our roster of artists, will have twelve works from The Chain series included in the First International Center of Photography Triennial of Contemporary Photography (September 12- November 30). The theme of the show is Strangers. This is the first time The Chain has been exhibited in the United States, but it was previously shown at the 2001 Venice Biennale, and Sao Paolo Biennal. Justine Cooper will mount an installation at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia in December, and is the Visual Director for an accompanying theater installation/performance at the Sydney Arts Festival. Sally Gall's Subterranea exhibition (accompanied by a new monograph) which was shown here last winter is traveling to seven galleries throughout the United States during the winter and spring of 2003 and 2004. Copies of the book are available at the gallery. Todd Hido will have a third monograph entitled Roaming published by Nazraeli Press in 2004. Work by Bill Jacobson was recently included in Visions and Revisions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He will also be featured in The Disembodied Spirit, opening this fall at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, and traveling, in 2004, to the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City and the Austin Museum of Art. The Fonds National d'Art Contemporain and The Corcoran Gallery of Art recently added his work to their collections. An exhibition of recent color photographs, entitled New Year's Day, will open here on October 17th. In conjunction with our recent Maira Kalman exhibition, we published a 19 x 15” iris print of "Lady Birley” in an edition of 36. Please contact the gallery for further information. Two works by Didier Massard were recently acquired by The Fonds National d'Art Contemporain in Paris, and FNAC circulated a solo exhibition of Massard's work throughout France this year. Work by John O'Reilly was included in the group shows Influence, Anxiety and Gratitude at the MIT List Visual Arts Center last summer, and is currently featured in Family Ties at the Peabody Essex Museum in Boston. Paul Shambroom received a Guggenheim Fellowhip in Spring 2003, and his monograph Face to Face with the Bomb has recently been published by Johns Hopkins University Press. He is currently included in a group show at the Whitney Museum of American Art Pictures from Within: American Photographs 1958-2003, and will have three solo exhibitions during the fall and winter of 2003/2004 at Le Mois de la Photo in Montreal, The Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Gary Schneider will have a solo show at the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University entitled Portraits in 2004 which will include work from his recent exhibition here, and will be accompanied by a catalog with an extensive essay by the show's curator Deborah Kao. This summer a solo exhibition Genetic Self Portrait is up at the University of Florida Galleries in Gainesville, curated by Amy Vigilante Dickerson. A portrait from his recent exhibition at the gallery has been acquired by George Eastman House in Rochester. David Stephenson will show the final installment of his Domes project here in spring 2004. New work made during a spring residency in Barcelona will be included as well as a computer animation of the domes.
